Of course, the finished image is quite digital; however, it was made from images from around 1895 through 1910.

Images were taken from glass plates in my collection made by a California Photographer named Oliver C. Clarke, about whom I can find no information. Scanned on Epson 1640 with transparency adapter, unless I scanned them on a brontisaurial Howtek Scanmaster 3+. Can't remember. The image of the Bayeaux Tapestry was from the 1910 Encyclopedaea Britanica.

I feel compelled to point out that the term "predigital" is somewhat limited, in that the Bayeaux Tapestry, like all woven articles(such as oriental carpets) are truly digital in a broader sense. The Jacquard Loom, in fact, was operated by a system of cards, very much like the computer punch cards they used in the 1960's. Since the earliest examples we have of woven textiles are about 3500 years old, there really doesn't exist much in the way of "predigital" unless we limit the discussion to present day digital -- which, I am sure, is the intent. I just find this stuff fascinating, and I always hope somebody else will too.

An amazing ancient coppiced woodland I stumbled upon...I have never seen the woodland anemones so thick. Visiting some of the woodland down here in recent weeks has made me realise that 1066 country isnt all about seaside!
